Maintenance & Backup

Use maintenance and backup tools before risky changes.

Backups

Create a backup before upgrades, major configuration changes or server moves.

A complete backup should include both:

  1. DoorFall Start Page Script files.
  2. The DoorFall Start Page Script database.

Maintenance

Use the maintenance functionality provided in Admin when the site should not be publicly used during significant work.

IMPORTANTA file-only backup does not include user accounts or database-stored application data.

Example backup

Before installing an update, download or copy the complete application files and export the MySQL/MariaDB database using your hosting control panel.

A useful backup name includes the date, for example doorfall-files-2026-08-18.zip and doorfall-database-2026-08-18.sql.

Store backups somewhere other than only inside the live website folder.

Before restoring

Restoring an old database can remove newer user accounts, settings or widget data created after that backup. Confirm the backup date before restoring it.
