First setup checklist
A practical checklist for configuring a new DoorFall Search installation.
1. Settings
Open Settings and set the Search engine name, homepage text, logo, favicon and search-result preferences.
2. Add your first source
Open Sources. Use Test website for crawling before saving the source. The test checks basic crawler access, robots.txt, the homepage response and whether usable content can be extracted.
3. Crawl a small batch
Open Crawler and choose the source. Start with 10 pages. Review the results before running a larger batch.
4. Configure automatic crawling
After manual crawling works, configure the cron worker and choose an Automatic recrawl interval for sources that should stay fresh.
5. Review quality
Use Search Quality to find pages with missing titles, missing descriptions or thin content.
6. Test real searches
Search for terms your visitors are likely to use. Adjust source Priority weight and Result source diversity only after looking at actual results.
